If you sell products on Amazon, it's not just about advertising and shipping. Any Amazon seller who sells more than a certain amount must show Amazon a current Liability Insurance. Without this insurance, the account may be suspended or sales may be blocked.

What is Amazon's Official Insurance Requirement?

According to Amazon, Article 9 of the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement states: "Sellers who make sales on Amazon.com totaling more than $10,000 in one month are required to maintain valid product liability insurance. You will also be required to upload proof of your policy to Amazon within 30 days of exceeding this threshold.

 Policy Criteria Accepted by Amazon

The commercial liability insurance policy requested by Amazon must meet the following conditions:

• Type of policy: General, umbrella or excess liability
• Coverage limit: At least USD 1,000,000 both per event and total
• Policy type: Preferably occurrence-based (claims-made only accepted in certain circumstances)
• Cover all Amazon sales
• Deductible should be maximum 10,000 USD
• Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates must be named as "additional insured" in the policy
• The insurance company must have an S&P A- or AM Best A- financial rating
• The policy must be signed by an authorized representative of the insurance company
• Amazon must be notified 30 days in advance in case of cancellation or change

LLC Can I Buy Liability Insurance Without Being a Company Owner?

No.
Amazon wants to see the company name registered in your Amazon accountas the name of the "legal entity" in the policy.
Therefore:

You must have an LLC, your
Amazon account must be linked to this LLC,
Liability Insurance must be issued in the name of this LLC.

In single-member LLCs, your DBA (doing business as) name may appear on the policy, but this is an exception.
